Vettel Can Be the Best Driver of All Time

Former Formula 1 driver, David Coulthard, Sebastian Vettel believes could become the best racer of all time. But Coulthard think Vettel will be unable to match the dominance of Michael Schumacher.

After his first world title last year, Vettel re-appear dominant this year. He won seven of 12 races have been held and currently leads the drivers' standings with 92 points advantage over his closest rival.

Coulthard, who also played for Red Bull, predicts Vettel will be able to defend his champion. Not only that, he also believes Vettel was climbing the path to be the best driver in F1 history.

"I think we can witness the development of the best F1 driver of all time," Coulthard wrote in his column in The Daily Telegraph.

"We can not say yet, of course. Only history will decide. But the fact that Seb continues to grow in every aspect, from the way he raced to tire management, building a natural pace, can not be denied," he continued.

"I do not think the standard in F1 never been higher than now. Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Mark Webber - these people are world class. Seb beat them all," said Coulthard.

However, Coulthard will not predict Vettel can match Schumacher's dominance of a few years ago. When I was a glory-prime, Schumacher who became world champion seven times is like no opponent on the track. Coulthard simple reason, namely the difference in the level of competition between then and now.

"People ask whether we will see another style of Schumacher's domination period. I do not think so," said Coulthard.

"Michael drove a car that never broke down, the car is far superior to his rival, with limited testing and the biggest budgets in F1," former McLaren driver said this.

"Ferrari and McLaren have the resources and personnel to match Red Bull. Their speeds are already as good as Red Bull in some last month," he continued.

"Remember too, that Michael was driving in an era when race 'expire' after 40 laps. I mean, if you lead after the last pit stop, you are almost certain to win because of positions on the track is king,"
