London Buttcrack, Between The Rich and The Poor (London Chaos)

Riots swept through London and other British cities. According to residents in areas experiencing unrest, riots were triggered by local tensions and anger over economic hardship in London where the gap between rich and poor people continues to grow.

"We had no job, no money. We hear other people get stuff easily, so why are we not?" E. said Nan, a young man in Hackney, multiethnic region in east London.

A British professor believes that the unrest is about the haves and the underprivileged. "It's not purely a matter of race, creed and class," said Professor Mike Hardy, Executive Director of the Institute of Community Cohesion institutions.

"One of the most powerful trigger is about the haves and the not. It's about those who terkesampingkan," he said as reported by Reuters on Tuesday (08/09/2011).

In a riot on Monday, August 8 pm local time, looting and arson occurred in a number of points. Eyewitnesses say they saw several cases of car theft by a group of looters.

Metropolitan Police said it had arrested 334 people in London and about 100 people in Birmingham. Melee that is the worst riots in Britain in decades followed a peaceful demonstration protesting the death of Mark Duggan, a black male crossbreed. Father of four was shot dead during gun raids by police on Thursday, August 4 last.

Peaceful atmosphere became violent when about 300 to 500 people gathered around the police station Tottenham. Some demonstrators then make Molotov cocktails and threw into the cordon. Others oppose the police with a baseball bat and beams and tried to storm a police station.

Within hours, riot police and a number of mounted police clashed with hundreds of rioters. The fire also spread uncontrollably and looting going on everywhere.
