A car containing a powerful bomb exploded in an area large enough Shiite Muslims, Quetta, Pakistan. The bomb exploded next to a mosque in the city.
"The death toll was 11 people now," said Quetta police chief, Ahsan Mehboob as reported by AFP on Wednesday (31/08/2011).
The bomb exploded when the majority of the citizens was carrying out the prayers in the mosque. In addition 11 people were killed, the bomb resulted in 22 people were seriously injured.
Ahsan said the police bomb disposal team has been concluded, this is a suicide bombing. The bomb was placed inside the car, instead of sticking to the perpetrators.
"Apparently he was not wearing explosives on his body, but he had planted in the car," said Mehboob.
The deadly car was trying to reach the parking lot of this mosque. But seeing the number of security officers, it was nevertheless carried out the perpetrator.
"Otherwise, he might have caused more casualties," he said.
The entire blast victims have been identified. Only the bodies of people who are in the car who could no longer be identified.
